Re: Sunset through the Sea Oats

The person on the beach makes this work, though he isn't noticed at first glance.
The washed out part of the sky doesn't bother me.
Of course, I do have to complain about the reed tops running off frame. Clone the tips and leave a bit of sky above them.
I think some will give cropping advice but I think it is fine as is.

Re: Sunset through the Sea Oats

    Jeff,

I think the sea oats going out of frame on the left gives direction, depth and perspective, the washed out sky leads me to think that maybe a contrasty black and white version may have more visual impact or punch. I do like it, super seascape.

This is a different shot of the same location. What do you think about this one, Jeff

Re: Sunset through the Sea Oats

    Jeff,

I like the composition of first shot better. In my opinion the viewing angle of the first creats a more interesting scene and perspective as opposed to what appears to be a perpendicular viewing angle to the line of the shore and the sea oats, in the second image.

I much prefer this one. It's larger size is an advantage of course, but I also like the cool tones which reminds me of how the beach is in the wintertime. The first one is more neutral but doesn't make an impression on me like the 2nd. I also like the sold blue density behind the tall blades of grass -- neat effect.

This was taken in just about the same place but a few minutes difference in time. The sun is no longer a problem in the background and I like it better. This is where I plan on taking some family portraits Sunday. I will let you know how they come out but probably will not be able to post any, Jeff

Re: Sunset through the Sea Oats

I like both equally well but for different reasons. The color is the greatest appeal for me in the second one.

agree that the water is not leve which is distractingl, however some relatively simple cropping should take care of that. This is one of the extremely few HDR shots that I like, it is not over done. Excellent B&W,

I will have to guess that due to the fact the water level hasn't been mentioned and that this is not an HDR photo , nor is it B&W that the only reason for this post was the links in the signature, Jeff

The spammers have really been busy lately - especially these 'cut & paste' types that just do a search on the topic and paste in whatever comes up. Do they think we can't tell??? - TF
