A couple of bird shots that I like, tell me what you think.

I took this first one into the sun, and you can see the results. The second one I took from a moving boat, does anybody know what kind of bird that is?

i like the first one. don't know if you could have zoomed in any closer, but its still fun.

the second one is just a little meh for me. it looks like the sun was pretty high in the sky so part of it is just the lightting at that time of day...

    Hey again,

The first one appears to be an heron. I am not too sure about the second one (I am not a birds guy...). Then again, I just love thoses trees coming out of the water, it makes a nice background. I'd crop the bottom of the picture on the first one. The extra water doesnt add anything to the picture in that specific case and I feel that cropping there would give more pleasant proportions to the picture. (But still, I basically feel that this is a good shot).

I don't like the second one that much but I think that it have a lot to do with the harsh sunlight.

    keep them coming!

I know what the first one is, it is the second one I haven't a clue about. BTW the first is a Blue Heron.

What's wrong in both photographs is the composition, mostly caused by incorrect framing.
My example shows what I had in mind myself.

I've searched for an article, in case you want to know more about how to make a composition stronger; http://www.apogeephoto.com/jan2002/altengarten.shtml
