A Study of Light and Shadow...

...okay, it's actually just a couple of landscapes and some geese.

I like your geese photograph because you capture one with wings up and one with wings down. Very nice. Your landscape photo of the water, ground and hills in the background reminds me of when I go flying in my Piper Tomahawk, and I'm flying fairly low to the ground. Where were you situated to take this photo? A hill or were you airborne?

    Hello DownByFive,

I really like your first shot, good comp and the lighting add a (whole) lot. My only concern is that the colors and contrast are somewhat flat. It seems to me that the picture could have more impact as your lighting appears to be very good.

The second picture possibly is the weaker of the bunch but it is still an enjoyable one. (I can't quite put my finger on anything wrong but this shot just don't have the same impact as the others on me. Well perhaps a cleaner background could help). Like the first picture, this one could probably use some level/contrast work to make the most of it but the potential is there.

I like your geese shot and how the sunlight slightly hit them.

I changed the white balance and upped the contrast, and curved it a bit...I even added a black frame for good measure. Hopefully this one looks a bit better...

Beautiful shots, what a wonderul area to be able to shoot in. One thing I can critique on is on the bird pic, the bird to the far right, near his beak is a glowing object. Just take that out and that's a great shot,
