They are both great. I really wish I knew why abstracts like this grab me. I can feel all the weight of this first one hanging over me. I might crop to remove the tiny sliver in the lower right. The other parts are all MASSIVE.

These are both very good as Chunk pointed out. I like the textures and lines going on here. Very easy and pleasing to look at. Great abstracts, Rachel. I agree with removing the small piece at the bottom of these walls.

    Re: Shadow and Light

Rachel, these are superb. The way you viewed these scenes as abstract is really a talent.I like the high contrast light and shadow in the first one and agree that that little piece of tile in the bottom is a tiny bit bothersome. You could crop it but it might ruin the look of the shadows coming to the bottom right corner where you wanted it. Try cloning out the line and that may work.

The second pic is my fav. I am quite impressed with the colors, they are so rich and balanced perfectly. Like Chunk said, the weight is very apparent as is the texture. You could pump up the detail in the yellow walls a bit by sharpening a little. I see this abstact on the wall in a huge building. What is the resolution? Can you print it or have it printed very large? It's a professional shot.

LoL! Chunk ! Thanks for >popping< in to critique!

(Chunk & Gary) I agree that the bottom groove takes your eye to that corner..I hadn't noticed it in that way, So all of your comments and opinions have been very helpful. At first when Chunk said "sliver" i thought that you guys meant the black edge, which is the edge of the frame...and i didn't crop So, i'll get rid of that too... unless ya'll like it? j/k.
Thanks for taking your time to take a look and give me your thoughts!

(Kit) Thank You so much for the compliments! I will definitely clone out that line in order to keep my shadow going to the corner.. Funny that you said that about hanging "on the wall in a huge building" Because I just came from a clients office and they had these huge, massive photos Mounted on the wall, and they were of a door with a yellow parking post. hm. And another was a plain wall with a tree stump. Not sure who decorated their office... I believe my resolution is 3200 (on my ~original~ tiff file) I'm not sure if sharpening will add to the farthest part of the wall.....but i will play with sharpening it to see what the results are.. Thanks for your ideas.

It will go well with your abstract building post from a few weeks ago. I like the second post better though. I had difficulties to identify the subject in the first pic. At the beginning, I thought it was an opened door and a piece of carpet!

But I wear glasses, so I have excuses!

    Cheers,

    Steph.

Thanks Stephane, for sharing your thoughts on that first image, I had to look at it for a few minutes to see what you are seeing, but now see that the Orangish part is the door, and then there's the shadow of the door.. and the lighter side is the carpet... maybe? lol. What i saw when i looked at it was the Number 1, but with out the little slant at the top, or a lower cased "i" with out the dot.. I think thats why I like it... it's Number One! lol.
