I like the photo, it is simple, but I would probably crop it a bit tighter. That is me though.

    Hey,
I like your intention, but it seems to me that something is just not quite right. I think it needs to be a bit sharper. And the lighting might need to be at a different angle as opposed to what seems like was directly above. Maybe a reflector underneath may help.I still like it but think there is room here for improvement. By the way, did you get to do more portraits of your friend for her husbands birthday? your portraits are usually vry good and was wondering if you got to do the reshoot.

    Unhappy no reshoot---yet

I simply had too much other stuff going on--- but we agreed to do some more in a few weeks.

I played around with the original image I posted by desaturating it which has more of the feel I wanted initially ---but I think you have a point on the lighting...they still haven't bloomed so i will try again tomorrow. this si a branch that fell from a tree months ago--it's been covered in rian snow and by pounds of leaves and after all the raking it was at the bottom of the pile muddy until we washed it off... amazing how resilient life is.

    Thanks for the suggestions

    Hey Natalie,
This version is definetely better, pretty good actually. The tighter crop and the desaturation helped this. Was this taken inside against a backdrop of some kind, I see the shadow of the branch or something in the bg.

The background is insanely boring and the subject is so weak. Talk about simplicity! If your focus is spring, your choice of subjects is not optimum.
