Being an equal opportunity parent, here's a recent photo fo my son. It was shot with the D70 and 50mm lens this weekend. It's not as memorable or as full of character as the one I posted of my daughter, but this is closer to what I think a paying customer might want. The shade tree and on camera fill flash provides nice even lighting and the background provides context, but not distraction. At least that's what I think. What do you think?

maybe having the background more out of focus wouldnt keep drawing my eye to the branch coming out of your sons head. just my opinion as im a complete beginner

I agree with kitst3r, the background is too distracting. This begs for more depth of field. I also think that the lighting in the face is too flat. But a good shot all in all, well done.
