    Some more shots...

    Hey guys,
I took some more photos and I want to see what you think and how I could improve them a little next time I got photo shooting.
Anyway I use an Olympus Stylus Digital 410 which has 4.0 megapixels (and I am selling one becasue I have two) and I was shooting on Automatic Mode as their is no Action mode.

Also, any tips to highspeed action shots? Do I just press the shoot button or focus it by pressing half way then shoot?
    Thanks for any tips guys!

    Re: Some more shots...

With any high action shot, make sure you half press the button to focus on the rider, and then usually pan to follow the rider, click fully down, and then you'll have the rider in focus, and since your panning, have very little motion blur of the rider. Of course, motion blur of the rider is needed sometimes, and then you can focus on the background. It can be tough, but your pics have a lot of potential, just some focus/sharpness issues.

    Nice shots,

    Jared

I used to try and do that same thing, take MTB shots with my crappy little point a shoot. You seem to have photographic skill, so the only way to imporve your pictures is to get a better camera ;) You can keep trying to work with what you got, but until you have the full power of manual settings and control, it is seriously hard to get rid of that motion blur. Really the only thing you can do with the camera you have is just to wait for a really bright day (so that your camera takes the faster pics) and go riding... good luck

    Part of it is...

The first thing you have to do, no matter what kind of camera you are using is to "pre focus".
As in the case of moutain biking, dirt jumping, free riding, etc..
I would suggest you pre focus on the jump or the point of take off.
With most P&S cameras you can lightly press the shutter release button to activate the AF.
Work with that first and I know you pics will improve.
    Good Luck!
