I like it, but don't know how to explain why... lol

I'd like it a lot more without that vertical stalk running through the center of the frame, perhaps a little darker. Good placement of the flower.

I'd like it more without the stalk as well. Also, the texture of the tree makes me lean towards black and white.

Also, on my screen the daisy looks a bit soft, like the focus is on the tree.

I don't feel this photograph in b&w but I see your points regarding the stalk in the middle of the frame, the dof and the brightness.

Hopefully, I'll be able to refine my composition the next time I encounter that kind of scene.

Seb, I like the idea here alot as the small daisy against the huge trunk is a great relation. I agree about the stalk in the middle taking away from what should be just the daisy and tree simplicity, and also, on my screen the daisy is blown out a bit. A must for a reshoot if possible as you are on to a very good image .
