    Sightseeing in Paris

    Dear All,

This is another one of my BW attempt in Paris. Does this work for you?

    Re: Sightseeing in Paris

Interesting perspective. I'm all for the black and white, I'm just not huge on the whole tilt thing. I love the shape and way the building's made, and the stares and people right in front give a great composition, I'm just iffy on the tilt!

    Regardless though,

    Great shot,

    Jared

I really like the tree and how It naturally frames the photo yet still appears straight in relation to everything else. Very nice shot.

    Dear Steph,

I like this photo. The angle is a nice touch. The angle captures the dome, the tree, and the stairway. I also like the contrast and clarity of the picture. A very nice photo.

I like this. The contrasts are good. I like the highlighting on the steps, and the tilt works well, thanks to your good composition. Definetely thought went into this.i like that the steps sort of come down in to the corner of the frame. It appears to me that the bg building is sharper than most of the foreground. . .such as the tree and bushes and steps even. I'm wondering if you hads focused out deep into the scene and was it intentional. I like the effect it seems to give here really brings out the building. good job

    Great angle, nice composition.
Sacre Coeur is a beautiful place to photograph.
The only thing I'd change is the twigs that hang over the dome.

You've done an almost perfect job of framing the dome with the tree, leaving sky around the building.

I love the B&W! The tilt definitely kept my attention for a long time, I think it works okay partly because the far left of the stairs is empty of people and my eyes kept going to the light pole then to the circular brick patern for the bridge underpas.

    Nice shot.

    Very nice.
I like everything about it. Tilt, comp, contrast, subject. Although I wish that bottom left dead grass (or twigs) wasn't there.

Over all beautiful. (where are those clappy emoticons when you need 'em? )

    Re: Sightseeing in Paris

Well, I like just about everything in this photo....except the people. The tilt would work for me if the people were not walking down the steps. Otherwise, I like the contrast, the use of B&W, the framing, and the overall composition. The people are just a bit disturbing to me.

    Re: Sightseeing in Paris

I am a big fan of odd angels, and the tree is just awesome. It really adds a forboding mood to the whole peice, and imo makes really bring the composition together. I really like the striking use of lines as well. The staircase and the lamp post being a very strong compositional peice. The only niggle I have is the shrub blocking the view of the domed building in the background. But really this is just a great image.

    Re: Sightseeing in Paris

Thank you all for your comments, and positive feedback! I am still prettily much playing with the BW feel. I found it much easier to work with (digital darkroom) in order to convey some special mood to a scene.

I will probably shoot a few more rolls while in Cleveland. There is an impressive amount of photo oppportunities here. Mostly street scenes, old buildings (prettily much falling apart), and VERY weird architecture (neo-medieval-gothic or something!). Very moody...

Too bad I am crawling under work these days!

Thanks again for taking the time. I appreciate it.

    Cheers,

    Steph.

    Re: Sightseeing in Paris

I love the angles, composition and especially that tree. One thing though, I don't think the B&W is executed as well as it might be, it seems to lack "pop". Great photo though, looks brilliant.

    Cheers
