    SF Bay area V.2

alot of you liked my golden gate bridge in the fog pic and had many nice and helpfull things to say about it.
being a noob, some i understood and some i did not.
the editing software i have (nikon picture perfect) is not the best from what i understand.
that being said i offer the untouched original followed by my "adjusted" first try.
i really only have d-light, brightness, sharpness, and color adjustments to play with.
oh yeah...this picture started life as a JPEG...not a RAW file....camera does the converting as i take the pic...i understand i may want to start taking in RAW

The contrast on the second one is a little too much and needs to be backed off some. I like the crop of the first one better with the foreground there. My choice would be the first picture with the contrast about midway between the first and second picture, Jeff

thank you so much for the input.
i hadn't ever considered leaving the foreground as that fence really bugs me...
maybe that is just a personal opinion and has no basis in actual compsition...lol...at this stage it is hard for me to tell the difference between the two.
it just seemed to pull my eye away from the subject i was trying to catch..the bridge leading into the fog.
    thanks again for the input.
    i will try your suggestions.

I agree with what Jeff said. I didn't even see the fence until you mentioned it and I went back and looked.

For me, the ledge in the first pic lends some "security" - gives me something to hang onto as I look waaaayyy down there at the bridge. (I'm somewhat scared of heights!)

I like that you boosted the color in the sky and bridge, but just a little less would be more complimentary, I think.

It's a great picture. Makes me want to go see the real thing.

I like the original, without the crop. If you don't like the fence, have somebody clone it out for you. In the contrast changes I think you lost some of the detail in the bridge, but I like the way it sharpened and brings more detail to the clouds on the right side of the bridge. Try some more minute adjustments and see if that helps. Great picture.
I'm a beginner photographer experimenting with lighting, and different editing techniques in photoshop cs3, and paint shop pro.

I'd like critiques from both sides of the camera. A photographer's point of view, and what you would like to see if the picture was of you (or your child) and you'd paid to have these taken. My ultimate goal is to improve my technique and style, and be the best that I can be.

    Your help is appreciated!

Hey Chappy, i like your original much much more than the 2nd version. I think the foreground, the two pieces of wood and fence add to the shot.
