    Sahara

I took this image of a nomad in the desert with a 300mm lens. i would have liked to get closer but was running out of time and the heavy lens caused some movement on the tripod so it's not as sharp as i would have liked. i'm happy with it otherwise - opinions anyone?

Wow, is the sand actually so red? Was this shot taken at sunset? Beautiful color. I think the shot would be better if the sky was bluer - did you try with a polarizer? It may not have helped much anyway. I agree that the shot is not sharp. Did you scan it, or is it from a digital camera? If scanned, then hopefully the original is sharper.

Overall I think the shot is pretty nice - I like the lighting and the colors and the lines & textures of the dunes.

Actually, the softness works with and not against the shape and contours of the sand dunes. The man standing there doesn't need to be sharp. I might even argue that if he were, it wouldn't fit as well with the mood of the piece.

As for the deep colors, even if it really was that red, I might consider desaturating those hues a *little bit*. It's almost red to the point of being a distraction. Otherwise though I like it a lot.
