    Reflections

I could not resist this shot of the reflections of boats at anchor

    Re: Reflections

Nice job to catch the reflections of both boats, but the image may have been stronger if you had captured it in a portrait vs landscape framing. Having the image vertical would have allowed you to get more of the mast in, as well as some of the additional reflection. Nice job on the colors though, as well as concept of the photo.

    Army,

    Thanks for the comments

Looking at it I think I agree. I include a picture that I took 2 minutes earlier. which is probably a better landscape

    Re: Reflections

I would have to agree with you. While it is not "up close and personal" with the vessel, you captured everything about it. You lose a bit with the reflection, but you still get everything with the "majesty" of the sail boat.

I've had the pleasure of viewing a bunch of images from you, as well as reading your critiques. You've got a great eye, and it's a pleasure sharing images.

    Re: Reflections

I like the second one better as well, a really nice view of the boats and reflections - very good shot, would have been nice for a cloud or two in the sky, but quite nice without it.

    Re: Reflections

    Army, Aaron,

Thanks for taking the time to comment and give feedback I really appreciate them and they do help to improve my photography.

Sometimes I take a photo and know thats something is wrong and cannot figure out what. You chaps help enormously with pointing out what is really the obvious. I guess being to close to your photographs.

The best thing about this site is the fact that the critiques are always constructive and that people like youselves, Tuna and others are happy to share excellent photographs. Keep it up.

    Re: Reflections

I like the second shot, its very peaceful, but I feel like I want to move the frame down. I would like to lose most of the sky above the mast, as it doesn't seem to add to the composition, and if possible I would like to have seen a little more of the reflection of the mast of the yellow and white boat to add to the symmetry of the shot.

    Regards

    matt

    Matt

I see what you mean - the only problem is that my boat was in the way of getting more reflection.

Makes you want to be a film director and start ordering the world to suit your vision!

I'm very envious by the way, it must be wonderful to have your own sailing boat!

Gets you to places where land lubbers cannot go like this place for instance - Very difficult and long hike on foot. Oh! and the last bit very wet!

    Re: Reflections

The second shot has better composition, but the first one has a stronger appeal being the reflection and tones are very pleasing. i agree with another that stated the first shot would have been great as a vertical or portrait composition. Good eye. I enjoy viewing your images.
