    Redone Bird Silhouette

Playing with Lightroom 3 using some video tutorials. Although not based on real colors, I do have to admit that the blue water looks much better than it's natural gray-brownish color.

Taken at the confluence of the Susquehanna River and Chesapeake Bay.

    Re: Redone Bird Silhouette

The composition is fairly good, however there is basically about 1/4 of the photo on the right which is all water - neither reflections nor the wood extend there ...if you have more of the photo to the left, you may consider shifting it all a little to the right. Also, there is a "glow" of sorts around the whole drift wood and the bird - I am not 100% certain - but I think that is from over-sharpening the photo ...a little less would be good. Quite a bit of digital noise as well - have you tried running it through digital noise reduction software? hope I am not too negative, but I know I like getting some feedback on mine ...so, take it for what it's worth ... :-)

    Re: Redone Bird Silhouette

Sorry about the delay, holidays and all...

The shot was made in low light, I believe (I'll have to look) that it was shot at 800 ISO on a P&S camera. I have not tried the noise reduction on LR 3 yet. Some of that noise may actually be detail I was trying to get rid of! The log itself is not quite in focus, it was actually a bit loose in the water in spite of the solid look.

The open water was deliberate. I tried closer cropping but didn't like it. To my mind, the image has an "empty" feeling to it, something I was going for.

    Thanks for the comments!
