Thumbs up Portrait ... Any comments?

She wasn't posing. Actually at the moment I was taking this picture she was saying she was a little against it
I brightened it a bit to hide the defects of this shot.

So she was saying no. . .and you took her anyway hmmm . . . . . . . I like it. The big smile and close crop looks appealing. You say all you did was brighten it a bit? Looks like a bit more than that, looks like a charcoal sketch as it is. But it has appeal and looks good and so no matter what you did, I like it.
btw, are you shooting with film and scanning? Because I see what looks like a hair on the film during scanning (top or her head). just make sure to clean that up.

This good and she was not posing ? go and get her to pose for you so.She is a good looking girl and if you copy some of the poses from any fashion magazines you have it would be worth it. No high light in her lright eye is only thing i can critique.

She has a very nice smile, a good face, from what I can gather. I am curious what the original looked like. It might be a little nicer if you could get more of her head next time. I think a complete face looks a little better, but that is just me. Very good job on the brightness. Upping the brightness does not always work, but it looks good here. Did you also mess with the contrast? It looks like you did. A nice photo.

Very good! Instead of over-editing the picture, next time try using black and white infared film. It makes blemishes or complexion look very smooth, and it would avoid ALOT of PS and the effects it leaves behind.
    Goodluck!

Thanx to all of you for your comments!!!
I used a Kodak Academy Black & White Film (camera: Canon Rebel T2, f/1.8 50mm). And, yes, I changed contrast too (as well as brightness).
This time I've got rid of the "flying rope".

Kodak Academy B&W Film? Huh!? I've never heard of it . Maybe it's the difference in country. Perhaps Kodak markets one of their films as academy over there that they sell as something else here in the States.

    Great picture by the way.

    Dear Cool_shooting,

I can see why you manipulated the brightness and contrast. The original is nice, but the manipulations make it much better. The original might be a tad too grainy to pass review alive. Also, your manipulations made the composition focus more on the face, always a good thing with portraits. You did the right thing. She makes a very nice subject, especially B&W. Nice one.
