    Pinned to wood...

    Thoughts? Does it work at all? Uncropped, shot yesterday...

    Lens: PENTAX SMC PENTAX-F F2.8 100mm MACRO lens
    Other equipment: Velbon CX-540 tripod
    Shutter-speed/aperture: 1/5 second at F14
    ISO: 200
    Focal length (35mm equivalent): 150mm
    Focusing: Manual focus, AF kept messing up
    Light metering: Multi-segment
    Shooting mode: Aperture-priority
    Other: 2-second self timer to avoid "camera jiggle"

    I like this one very much. Great counterbalance between the smooth pin and the rough wood (or sawdust) and the colors are very complimentary. I like the chosen DoF as well, enough, but not too much.

    I pretty much agree with Jetrim However, my eye keeps wanting to place the pin further to the left?

    Very cool. Love the focus points. Might be also cool without the shawdow of the pin?

    I like the composition. The sharp focus of the pin (no pun intended) is great and I like the bright red against the light brown wood. You could experiment with different lighting, but I think this works well. Nice shot.

    Alex - Nice and sharp, good texture, and well executed. I think it works well, though I would prefer that the tack be in the lower part of the image and that perhaps the subject was more symbolic (maybe it is, but I just don't get it ).
