Hi, this is my first post on this forum.... Overall, a good shot IMO. I like the "I'm pretending not to like this" look on his face, and the tinting is pleasing to my eye. I find myself focusing first on his face framed by the color of the hat, then drawn down to the way he's holding his hands. Two small things -- the tinted rocks. They distract me. My gaze continually sneaks down, especially to the one not covered by his foot, and I feel like I'm working to try and overcome the pull so that I can take in the rest of the picture.

Well composed, nice relaxed expression. Somehow though I find the background distracting, maybe its too bright? (the utility box on the right is also slightly distracting) I could also tell it was modified before I read that (not sure if you were trying to hide that?), but it looks quite good. The tonals in everywhere except the top right are excellant.

The "utility box" is my porch. But thanks for the opinions. This was back when I first started and back ground was not first in my mind. It is now.

    Sandi..

i like it very much. He looks like he's in his element. I love your taste in color. Very subtle. When you say "hand tinted", do you literally mean by hand or in PS? I ask because I do the same in PS and not sure what to call it. However you do it, it works. One thing, you may want to make the two rocks more like one of the colors in the ground, otherwise it seems a bit contrived. Know what I mean? I think the photo would be stronger without it.
    Beautiful shot of your son,

    Shesells:

No, I don't use my PC for coloring. I use photo oils and actually tint the original itself. There are also markers for coloring eyes and lips. They are nice, but you don't get the vivid colors like you do on the PC....it's a subtle tone.

I've tried using Corel to do the coloring and find it more tedious than hand tinting.

Huh. Nobody likes the rocks...I did.
