    On the path

Hey all. I took this picture last weekend. I can't put my finger on what's wrong with it, but something just doesn't seem right. I know the walking figure is a bit out of focus, but, there is something else, as well. Any suggestions?

This reminds me of the b/w photos of the boy and girl usually with a red rose, so what I see missing is a second figure. I love it.

I kinda like it the way it is. I like how this perspective gives the feeling of very large threes and a tiny person walking amongst them. Maybe this would be a better picture if it were in color? The thing that sort of bothers me is how that front tree on the left side is really leaning, I wish it were more erect.

The figure needs a little red riding hood?

Actually this may be a little brighter than we expect to see in a mature woods like this with the leaves still on the trees.Try taking it into a curves adjustment and lowering the midtones while raising the darker values just a bit to hold the details in the shadows. Something like this.

I think this is a nice mood and I like the pools of light along the path.

If you shot if vertical? That would further accentuate the smallness of the figure in the frame, and may help lead the eye towards it. My two cents.

Thank you. I took another one of a jogger with his dog, but I like the lone figure best, myself.

Thanks. As far as the leaning tree goes, it's part of the territory. This is on Kennesaw mountain, so there is no flat ground, and the trees are exposed to lots of wind. About a third of them have some kind of lean.

    Here's the original color. I don't think it's a strong.

I'll let her know about the hood. I'm sure she'll argue against it, but hey.... I like the changes you made with the curves adjustment. I'm still working on feeling my way around PhotoShop.

It was shot vertical. I cropped down the excess because I didn't think it added anything. The original is available to look at here:

Let me know which you like better.
