I think this works quite well, but because i had to scroll to see the whole picture, i find that if you get rid of the referee, umpire???? it works a lot better. He's already cut and doesn't bring anything to the scene, whereas when you just have the batter and catcher, you end up with a very clean shot IMHO.

I like the idea of the pano. I resized my moniter to see the whole image.
I think to make it work you should show the ground and the players feet, include the rest of the umpires body, and give a little space over the batters head.
These are things I think would improve it, though I think that It's a great shot!
