    Opinions Please

I took this picture of my Daughter and Grandaughter.
Not the grandaughter of the one in the picture.
My wife wants an 8 1/2 X 11 to frame.
    Orig file is 4.1 mb
    E 520 and 14-54 lense.
Any suggestions before I send it out.

    Thanks in advance

    Fred.

looks fine. but the crop at 8.5x11 will be a much thinner than this.

my suggestion for next time though, clear the stuff on the couch :yesnod:

I would crop all but the faces down to the end of your wifes hair. That would focus on them and not the things around them. Great subjects.

I think you need to do something about the hot spots on the chin, cheeks and forehead Fred.

ya it looks like you used direct flash you should try using cross lighting to create more drama i find that most of the time flash just flattens things but then again im new so take what i say with a half a pound of salt great compsure tho and very nice pose

What's nice about it, Don? Why is it worth keeping? Remember, this is the Photo Critique forum not the compliment forum. People are here for real criticism. As I've said before, you sell the photographer and yourself short by not taking a little time to give a bit of thoughtful analysis.

Welcome to PhotographyREVIEW.com! It's always good to see a new member here. However, the Photo Critique forum is about serious criticism. Photographers post their photos here so that we can give them honest, thoughtful feedback on their photos. They need more than, "Nice shot." So please take a closer look at the photo and tell us why it's nice. What about it works? And tell us something you think isn't working. What would make it better? This is what critique is all about - taking the time to really analyze a photo and offer your sincere thoughts on it. The great thing about the critique process is the critic often learns as much or even more than the photographer.

Thanks for being patient with my little lecture. The Photo Critique forum requires some extra care and moderation so we can keep it on track. We don't want it to just become another place where people post photos to get a polite pat on the back. It's much more important than that

The edit is much improved, and I'm amazed that you were able to remove all the hot spots so well (I have a long ways to go before I can do that!). It's not a bad shot at all. Though isn't artistic, you caught a nice moment.

    Thankyou GB1

I am using PS Elements 2 ( an oldie )
I used the clone stamp tool on some of the hot spots
and then Hue/Saturation to tone down the skin color.

    Re: Opinions Please

the skin is vastly improved in the edited version ,
    the hair looses the shine

if possible I'll keep the hair as it was in the original shot, and the skin of the edited version

I agree with Armando_m - about maybe trying to leave the shine on the hair. The skin tone is much improved though!
