    Your opinions please...

So... I got this shot of a seagull today. Poopy sky, so thought I'd convert to black and white. I have Photoshop Elements 6 and there are different choices you can make for the conversion. I can't decide which I like better. What do you think? (and maybe tell me why you think it's better)

    First: Original - color
    Second: infrared
    Third: portraits
    Fourth: scenic landscape
    Last: vivid landscape

    THANKS!

Honestly...none. Reshoot it. Seagulls aren't rare. I'm brutal about this kind of thing in my own work. If I've blown the exposure or focus or whatever, no amount of post processing is going to save it unless we part ways with trying to convey reality. In this case though, an ordinary seagull isolated so much might not work with surreal filters and such. Give it a try though, you never know what might work.

I prefer the color with a little more PP.

    But that's not your question.
I see too much noise under the wings in the B&W conversions.
That said #5 seems the cleanest.

Frog... yes, I always shoot in RAW

Single t.... Thanks for the answers I was looking for. I thought the same actually. Just wanted some other eyes.

Iguanamom.... To me, just because something is not rare does not mean it is not worthy of being photographed. There is something about all winged things that draws me to "snap". I am not a pro and realize that my limited equipment is a drawback. I will never obtain the clarity and perfection of those with the best equipment. Still, I am always trying to improove, and with the help of the folks here and others, I am!

All I was wondering with this example was which black and white conversion works best with birds.

That's not what I meant by seagulls not being rare - yes, they can be lovely and worth photographing. I meant that everyone shoots them and they are everywhere and so only the very best photos of them really work. And we're all limited by our experience and equipment, but it's discernment when we deal with our own work that comes the hardest.
