    One flower, two attemps

    Hello,

Here are two shots taken recently. The first one is quite usual in several ways but I liked the lightning.

The second is experimental (for me) in every ways. I deliberately overexposed, played with spot metering and tried an almost square crop.

    please criticise

For the first one, I was silent, but the second one got a stong "Ooooooo" out of me. Hopefully that will tell you which I like better.

I think more overexposure to bring out the detail in the second one would have helped. I love the crop.

How to tell the most experienced shooter in a group? They have the least amount of toys on them.

I agree, the second one is very striking! What beautiful colors and it is very sharp and clear. I thought the 1st had a little bit of shadow and the size of the flower in the pic was almost overwhelming. Just my thought tho!! Very nice job.

    Hello Seb,

Thank you for your comment. I will reissue the second picture and overexpose it even more to see what it can do. I have a question regarding that picture in particular. In the lower right corner where it is darker there is some sort of noise which surprise me since I shot at ISO 200. Is this normal as I overexposed and can I fix it (ideally with the camera while shooting or at worst in PS afterward...)

    thanks again

    Hello Betty,

Thank you for taking the time to comment, I sincerly appreciate. About the second picture and it's sharpness, I must confess that I have somewhat cheated as I have used an aperture of f/9 (where my lense give it's very best). One would usually use a bigger aperture to blurry the background and bring out the flower but I had no background in this particular case as it is totally washed out.
