    Olg Rag

Here are a couple of shots I took weekend before last from Old Rag Mountain. I wanted to do some panos but if the wind up was blowing me around at 250+ lbs I wasn't going to trust the tripod.

My first attempt at this type of shot. Critiques and pointers are appreciated.

There is no there there. I keep looking at these photos trying to find something to draw the eye into the images and there just isn't anything there. Perhaps if the 2 photos were combined so there was something of interest in both the foreground and background it would be a bit better but neither image has much to look at or draw the eye.

Perhaps darken the sky some with a polorizing filter, the composition is nice, but would benefit with something to establish scale and something to focus your attention into the photograph. Very nice first attemtps, keep up the good work - the more you do --- the more you learn.

    Thanks for the comments.

MB1 - I see what you mean. If I had the chance to try the panoramas like I had wanted then perhaps being able to show the entire scene would have made the shot more interesting. When I look at these I get a kind of nice-but-so-what feeling.

Aaron - I'll try tweaking the sky a little to see if it helps. I have a few with some of the people I hiked with that day that do give them some sense of scale. I'll check with them to see if they have problem with me posting them and put them up if they are okay with it.

Yeah, might have been an excellant backdrop for photos of friends. But still a nice shot. Wish more leaves were changing.

Aaron is right about the polarizing filter. It would also and contrast in the rocks and clouds, also pop the colors a bit.
