    old car

    I don't think this is the strongest composition to begin with, but I'm trying to figure out how to pop the car more or even frame it a bit better.

    It says in your post it is OK to re post as long as what was done is listed. This is just a crop and a little sharpening. The title is Old Car so I thought the car should be more prominent instead of the house, Jeff

    Thanks Jeff.
    I included so much of the house to avoid centering it too much, but my own crop started looking like yours. It looks like I didn't fix the tonemapping enough either...thanks for not noticing ;)

    Re: old car

    This image is more about the house then the beautiful pick up. The truck gets lost in front of a house that is almost the same color. In addition, my eye is too distracted by the flag, red roses, front doors and the tilt of the image. The truck is a great subject but I feel it needs to be more on it's own.

    You can do a combo of these:

    1. desaturate a bit the color of everything other than the car;
    2. enhance the color and details of the car;
    3. add vignetting.

    Re: old car

    I on the other hand think the flag and roses add some much needed color to the picture and without them would be all just about the same tones all over the frame and cropping any more would not look right to me. The truck is a little centered but to change to a different crop to get it out of the center would ruin the whole picture for me. Sometimes rules need to be broken to get the best out of a picture. Rules are suggestions and not carved in stone. As far as the tilt I noticed it but wanted to as little to the image as possible, Jeff

    N8 - I simply don't know what to make of this one. I think it needs adjustment to make it right, but can't figure out what you can do to achieve that. Seems like it's tilting but I see that the grass is aligned correctly. I think it is what it is, and that's an interesting shot with old truck, American flag and nostalgic house. Maybe we should be happy with it!
