Nice stuff in 1 & 4, but #2 gives the immediate impression of the kid in the blue jersey is skewered on that galvanized pole. 3 would be really phenominal with all of the ball in frame.
I agree that # 3 is the best but would be sooo much better with the ball all the way in the shot. The others show good timing but these type shots are inherently difficult to get that 'perfect' image due to all the angles, background distractions, etc etc. You just have to keep on practicing and learning.
Try zooming out just a little with the notion of later cropping in.. This will prevent a situ like # 3 where you probably have hurt your head banging it against the wall on such a near miss.
