'nother Cat - One of the weirder-looking photos I've taken

Tried to make friends with some Oleander Wasp Moth Caterpillars again today. This one was taken with my D70 and Tamron 90mm macro plus a Tamron SP 1.4 teleconverter using f/22 and 1/60 with on camera flash.

Your thoughts and comments are appreciated.

It got croped off on the top right. I'm sure it didn't need to. Seeing its shadow against the leaf on the left due to the flash makes it seem unnatural.

I like the idea of it all....I'm itchy all over just looking at it.

Good close up shot. Its a weird shot cause its a weird subject, but you captured it well. It lacks depth however... the colors and contrast appear flat. Bump up the contrast a tad and see if it improves it. Good job on the DOF, framing and shutter speed/aperature combinatiions.

Thanks for resurrecting one of those unloved and unremarked upon postings from a while back. I've done that myself sometimes -- "let no post be left behind."

These critters will be back in season again soon and I may take another run at them.

If I was about to take the shot, I might slip a matt black, or matt midnight blue card behind to isolate the critter.

Its gotta be contrived as these things don't just appear anywhere.
Like the subject matter though.

Very interesting subject! A little tight on the crop and the colors are flat, but I would love to see a reshoot of this if you get around to it.
