    My First Wedding...

Well I should say my first practice wedding. Have four couples (friends) getting married this summer, this is kinda fun.

    Re: My First Wedding...

Looks like your off to a good start! The bride & groom are the main focus of the wedding and I would like to see them fill up the frame more and have less background. This would make for more interesting pictures, Jeff

    Re: My First Wedding...

You've certainly got the potential to succeed but I can see a couple of things to correct:

    1. All the images look too dark on my monitor, by at least a stop.

    2. When I am doing a wedding I am maximum 15 feet from the bride and groom. As Grandpaw says, there is too much space around the subjects. This is an intimate personal event. You have to get in there and be part of it. Look for emotion on the faces, little events, that is your subject

Thanks for the comments. I took 650 pictures and will be putting a photo book together for the bride and groom. We were lucky it did not rain during the ceremony, it had earlier that am. Had a lot of fun and look forward to the next wedding.

Luck it did not rain, but the clouds do make for some dramatic lighting. I really love the contrast of the colors. I would agree that I'd like to see more of the bride and groom close up, but in addition to the ones you already have. I do like the ones that give you a full sense of the ceremony.

I like the idea of the third and fourth photos, and I like that you had both one with a focal point on the couple and the other on the lights. However, on the first of the two, I think that the candle closest to the camera (blurred out) takes up too much of the frame).

    Looking forward to seeing more

These are great - Im sure they will love them. I really like the 5th one but that white chair is distracting.. any way to clone that out? That angle plus the stormy sky is really appealing to me!

So were you the official photographer? You said practice ,so I wasn't sure if that meant there was another photographer htere as well..

Anyway I would have loved to have these photos. My wedding was the "first" for my photographer and it didnt go so well. fortunately it didnt scar her too badly as she tried again, and is doing fine now... ;)

No, not me. I think they had 2 paid photographers there. I am kinda just doing this to learn and give my friends some nice, hopefully unique, photo albums from their big day.
    Thanks

Some good work, I have my first sunday.. its only about 20 people and she decided a week before her wedding she wanted a photographer, so hopefully she is not expecting bridal magazine photos, but doesn't mean i wont try,

also what range lens did you use?

My mom hired a friend to shoot her wedding who'd never worked with color film before. Unfortunately, most of it didn't turn out.

Thanks and good luck! I used the only 2 lenses I have, a 50mm 1.8f and a 18-55mm varying f. I think I would have used my 70-200mm if I still had it but..... It would have been nice to have some super fast glass of like an 18-100mm but I did'nt so I 'rung what i brung'

    Re: My First Wedding...

I will probably use my 18-55 for the reception, my 55-200 for the ceremonies and the 50mm for a few shots.
