    Hi Night,

A very nice set of captures. Hat's off to you. I especially like the color and contrast of the 2nd owl picture.

    Good night,

You DID have a good day. I agree that the second owl is especially good.

I think good day is an understatement. Nicely done.

There is only one question that I have though, and maybe someone can answer it --
It could be my monitor, my eyes, I don't know.... but does anyone else see large concentric rings around the owls?

    Re: My Day

Yup i C them clearly i think it may be a combination of me moving , i was knee deep in snow had just walked right up to the owl he had his back to me and there was a little bit of a wind if you look closely you can C that his feathers were moving + the branch he was on was moving also. But like i say it was 3 weeks trying to get a photo from this guy, maybe next time it will be under better conditions

Thanks all for your words of encouragement Hope to get a better camera by next summer , im only using a 2mp Fuji at this moment.

I took a look at the other pictures i took ,it could be because i set the camera to take 4 pictures at once , the first of each set does not seem to have that halo around the owl.

    Knight -

I have a feeling you'll be getting that camera. From the sounds of it (and appearence of your shots), you've got a quite a good deal of determination. You put your mind to it, and it gets done. Keep on going... make your mark. Your photos are a nice start in doing so.

I think those rings are called "banding", and...

they are an artifact caused by the ability of the digital sensor to interpret minute changes in color and JPEG artifacts.

Night, one thing to try is to reduce the amount of JPEG compression when downsizing to post here. I believe that the file size limit is 200k. Also, if you are not, shoot at the highest possible quality.

Nice shots. Owl's are definately out and about around here in my neck of the woods too. Quite the good chance for photo opportunities. Love the church shot too, must be a good place to take some nice building shots.

    Great shooting,

    Jared
