    Moon over Marina 2

Fuji X-tra 400 Small pano crop
Forgot to mention that this as with the Marina 1 are in camera double exposures of the moon and marina.
    What do you think?
    Thanks

    Gary,
That is just amazing artistry and technique. Breathtaking. Did you switch lenses between these two?

It's gorgeous Gary. I think everything is lit perfectly. The composition is great. The only thing that' a bit unatural is the lack of a moon reflection on the water.

    Beautiful shot Gary.
I don't think the reflection of the moon would be in the frame if this had been a straight shot, its too far from the horizon. If any of it were showing, it would be just the tip.

    Re: Moon over Marina 2

Tim, Liban, Chunk. . .thanks for the thoughts on this. As for the reflection, i think as Chunk stated it would be too far down and probably out of the scene , but perhaps the tip of it showing. i don't think I want to bother with that in this as it would probably clutter up that small area below the lights.
Tim, thanks for your good words. The scene of the marina was shot first and composed with an approx. 35mm, and then the moon was shot next at about 500mm with a Sigma 170-500 mm lens I have.

That's a superb pano Gary! I didn't understood how you could get that moon until I read your explanation above. Speaking about the moon, it gives me the feel of a theatre set (half realistic, half magical). Because of this, the whole picture become somewhat bigger than life in a strange but pleasing way.

Other than that, I think that I would have prefered the ship in the foreground to be a little more colorful but that's just a preference. It wouldn't necessarily make the picture stronger.

Absolutely spot on with this one Gary. Looking at it is just like being there.

    Cool Awesome photo!

I would consider this a work of Art in the true sense of the word.

    Beautiful.

    Gary,

Awesome! No complaints here. I agree the reflection would clutter the fg.

Like Seb, I didn't realize how this was done until I read your description. I'm learning more from other people's photo critiques than my own. Thanks for the lesson!

    Fantastic.

You had mentioned that you were considering pano framing for some shots...this one is perfect for the format and beautifully crafted.

Yes, I immediatley figured that something 'fishy' was going here on with the moon that big against the boats (unless you own a 1000mm lens), but still a great shot.

Seb, Tom, Liz, Paul, Tuna , and GB . .thanks for the replies. I'm pleased to hear the positive opinions on this from you guys ( and gals, Liz) .You know, I had someone tell me that I had blown what could have been a great shot by my unbelievable rendering of the moon in the scene. Well, I'm not trying to make anyone think that this was how it was, only to create a scene that I might like to see. Well, as they say, you can't please everyone. But if I can get these ops from you guys on this, i consider the image a success. thanks again
