A nice simplistic shot, yet there is nothing to hold my interest really. Nice colors, and technically, everything appears to be fine, yet nothing draws my attention in.

Probably because it's a typical tourist photo. Actually that was the first palm tree I've ever seen. Ontario doesn't exactly have the right growing conditions for tropical plants.

NIce sharp image with clear colours, might benefit from a bit more activity in the background or perhaps a clear point of focus in the foreground?

What you need is someone climbing the tree. That would for me be excellent.

I think you could really make the photo much more appealing by having angling the camera so the trunk comes out of the bottom right corner, and have the branches in the upper left (using the rule of thirds).

Great for what it is, though shots like this are hard to raise above the ok level. But -- this one has good potential for usage in photo manipulation, copy and paste, etc areas.. Not sure in what at this point.. but i could see it being used as background for other projects. So keep it handy!
