    London, Leicester Square, Street Scene

Since I didn't accidentally blow up the site with my first post, I thought I would be bold and try another.

Again this was taken with a Yashica T4-zoom which I slip in my pocket sometimes, and was then scanned onto the computer. It was taken in the early evening as the light was rapidly disappearing, so I propped myself up against a street lamp to add a bit of stability for a longer exposure. I wanted to try and capture something of the anonymous, neon-lit hustle and bustle of Leicester Square as night approaches.

    Thanks for looking.

YAY! One month from today, I'll be there!

Nice pic! I really love the slight motion blur you captured. Great mood.

Now this is neat! I like it... even though I would have preferred more sharpness and the main building does not look straight.

But overall, this is a pic I would not mind having to look at everyday hanging in a frame somewhere. Good shot! I will be in Paris soon and I am thinking about street photo. In particular, I am looking forward to a photo shoot in Pere Lachaise and the Place du Tertre. I will be looking at your future posts for inspiration!

    Cheers,

    Steph.

NIce shot.. very well composed and the lighting definatley is well done.
There is something about the shot makes you feel exactly like you would walking through Lancaster Square at night... at least for me.

    Thanks for the comments.

Steph, there is a little more sharpness on the print I scanned from, but I was probably shivering a bit too as it wasn't that warm an evening! I know what you mean about the building not looking quite straight, but I think that's partly down to the main "Slot Casino" sign being off kilter in comparison to the building itself, which does slightly strange things to your eye. This effect is made worse when its combined with that tilted post in the bottom left!

Kelly - Hope you have a great time, although I wouldn't spend much time around Leicester Square, its a real tourist trap! I would recommend checking out the view from the top of Primrose Hill if you have a chance (the nearest tube is Chalk Farm), and then stopping for a coffee or a bite to eat on Regent's Park Road (or a pint or two in one of the pubs nearby, The Engineer is a good bet!).
