    Lake Ride

All critique appreciated. I can't stand the halos.. I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of them.

I think you have two nice images here. One would be the boats wake winding off to the right of the frame with the mountains in the BG. The other is the boats stern, flag and passengers. Did you take any other images of this scene?
I like the mood of the atmospheric haze surrounding the mountains.
What "halos" are you talking about?

I think this is a great "travel" shot as it speaks a lot about the mood, location, weather, situation and similar. The mountain light is great ...but, I would love to see that and the lake on its own ...the flag, boat and people distract from that more "natural" scene ...either way, good job.

Ed, the halos are right above the first green land after the water ends. just before the 2nd layer of land. thanks for not noticing them haha.

    Thanks n8.

llewpics, thanks for the comment. i do have a ton of shots of just the natural parts. I'll try to share some. I've been posting too many threads so i'll just cool off for a bit

I love the feeling of this. If an image can satisfy you on an aesthetic level AND make you feel like you're really there... AND make you want to be there... then you know it's working. The lighting is magical.

As for the halos, I definitely see them. I get them all the time and still don't have one standard remedy. How do you think you got them in the first place?

One thing I've done is to reprocess the image in RAW, bring it in as a new layer, create a black layer mask, and paint in the new information where the halos are. But that only works if I'd created halos that weren't originally there, via sharpening, HDR, or some other filter...

another great shot, you're on a roll!!

you're still using nik hdr ?
perhaps a series of small negative control points right where the halo is happening

is the flag semi tranparent in the original, or is that en effect of the hdr, ? I'll prefer it opaque

maybe a bit of noise reduction on the dark portions of the sky ?

I see the halos as well and other than that I think it works fine. The people are hanging out of the frame but sometimes breaking the rules work, I think this one does.

I am almost 50/50 on the people hangin out of the fram. My eyes go to the hills in the back first but they do wonder down to the people but not for long. Nice image

    How can I be lost
If I've got nowhere to go?
