    Juicy

All opinions are welcome, please. What does everyone think of composition and also of lighting. Oh, and I must thank my assistant, Kevin, who kept my orange (and I promise it is an orange) well watered, to give it that juicy look. *smiles*

I like the plan, like what you are going for. I think you almost have it but not quite. To me , at least on my monitor the lighting looks a bit dark and somewhat flat. Also, I think the shot might work a little better if I was not looking dead on at the orange half but at more of an angle. Perhaps taking the shot about a foot or two more to the left of where you were. I think because of the lighting, the innards of the orange is looking a little pinkish like a grapefruit. Kevin has done a fine job keeping your orange juicy,, and with that said, I think you would enjoy doing this again as you are close to having a great image.

Thank you for the comments. I actually darkened the photo a bit in photo shop, I kind of liked how it looked, however, it may appear a lot darker on a different monitor, I think I will change it back to it's lighter version. I see what you mean by getting a different angle. I have several other views, but I don't think I have one that is a foot or so over to the right side. I'll have to set the shot back up and try that. Oh, and the orange actually is that pink color. I thought I had regular oranges, but apparently I bought pink oranges. I was very suprised when I cut them... I'd never heard of a pink orange before. *smile*

The lighting probably could use some work, as it produces a rather flat tonal range. When I think citrus, I think vibrant hues of yellow and orange maybe with a bit of bright green somewhere.

Compositionally it's pretty straight-forward, but it could work as a non-cover shot in a magazine... say to accompany a short piece about eating healthy or whatever.

I know this is the photo critique, but what would you suggest I do with my lighting? I do plan to set this shot back up and I want to do everything I can to improve it. I didn't shoot this for a magazine or anything, I actually am doing this for practice. I really appreciate the comments and suggestions. *smile*
