    Iceland Pony #1

One of a couple thousand images shot while I was in the land of Fire and Ice. This particular shot was done with my Lumix, but I have 00many shots done with my D200.

    Let me have it..

Interesting looking subject. I really like the wind blown mane. The sky is blown out to the extent that is almost non existant, just a bit over the horizon made it through. The body of the horse too is over exposed and lacking detail. I am distracted by the dark hole in front of the animal. I also don't find anything drawing me into the image, not much interest for me.

I agree the sky is blown out, however I like the look of the shot, maybe play with it some, the sky is what ruins it for me, its like its there but not there lol
    Looking forward to more!

Thanks for the critiques and I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment. All I can say is that if this were with my DSLR, the outcome would have been different.

Now, here's the real reason I posted this one.. Most all my (nonphotog) friends who have seen this shot love it. None of them notice the flaws that we (as photographers) see. I think it is interesting that we "trained professionals" have such a different view of a photograph than the average joe.

Great subject. I would suggest some cropping to minimize or to eliminate the sky. It would also isolate the subject.

Now if you would have found one with a straight horn growing out of it's forehead...

Very nice. The pony seems to glow. Very good composition here too. The sky is a tad blown out but doesn't look bad to me or anything. Might experiment with it a bit, cropping some of the sky out, just to see. Nice place and nice work
