This is more like solving a design problem rather than a photographic problem. As a graphic designer myself, i do sometimes put black boxes on images and turn their opacity down. but only a certain area using the rule of thirds and only to put type in that area if the photo is as busy as this one. This kinda thing might work graphicaly but i don't think it works photographically ;) i still like your creativity and all the crazy stuff u try.

I think it would have been much more interesting without the lines. Not sure I get it either???
I also think it would have worked better if it was centered, symetrical, skewed ect.

tone mapping and layer blending. same as usual. except the exposures selected have geometric divisions. this picture is not different in principle from anything i do.

I like the reference in the title, but I actually think that the hard edged geometric divisions detract to much from the image. I think you could emphasis the cruciform in a less obvious way and the image would work much better.

Yeah, that is almost certainly true skyman. But I am just starting to play with it. Maybe I will get better. It is kind of obvious to exposure blend with such hard lines.
