    hands in the window.

finally having a DSLR is opening up a whole new world of possibilities. Low light and quick opportunities are two I am playing with now. Here are some shots of coworkers' hands in the food window. If i can get interesting enough poses - and I won't pose them - this might become a full series for print.

I think you got the exposure right on. Love the light and tone.
Problem is they don't do much but that might just be my own taste in photos
The third is the one I like the most.
    Keep Shooting!

    Re: hands in the window.

thanks frog, that's exactly where I am sitting with these too. The idea came to me from a lady's hand at one of the tables on friday night - I should have just asked her if I could shoot her hands. I'm going to have to figure out what makes a good hand picture - what is expressive, what is important, and whether or not I need to incorperate other aspects from the restaurant to make them worth something. The third is my favorite also. The second might be better with a ticket or two on the speed rail, so that it is evident that it is a kitchen. Much work ahead!!

    Re: hands in the window.

Hands crtainly make good subjects. they can tell a stroy by themselves just by their pose. I think the firt would have been really good if it were just the one hand (one in focus)
The third is best for now because of the context of the arm and body and lighting too.
    Keep at these.

    Nice subject.

The hairy arm in the first image bothers me but I do like the hands (would have been better if you shot from a lower angle to hide the arm).

The second isn't bad and I like the rings but by far the most interesting image here is the third. The hand is nicely placed and exposed with really good lighting but what really makes this image is the additional elements that add some mysterious clues to the person and place.

    Good stuff.
    No, I DON'T need that.

I think it will make for an interesting series. I think you need to adjust the WB some though and get a more natural tint.
