    Foxy

A shot of one of many red fox taken in the Arctic Circle. C&C appreciated...

Awesome. I love it. Kind of wish there was a tiny bit more definition to the snow, but this is awesome.

Brilliant shot. Closer crop I think. I guess for the novelty you want the snow. For the shot you want the fox.

Aren't they just a beautiful animal.
I like the high key effect. Wish the eyes were sharper and maybe some more bg to give relevance.

    Thanks for having a look!

Frog ~ They sure are beautiful! I've worked jobs where I've been around them enough to know they're both intelligent and not shy. The only backgrouund I could have captured would have been more white stuff.

Point well made, daq. It's definitely about the fox, but the snow is representative of life in the Arctic Circle. From the perspective of selling this picture or entering it in a contest, would one be better than the other or is more a matter of taste/opinion?

    Re: Foxy

Figured I'd share another shot of the ol' foxy. This little feller found some caribou carcass left behind by natives who harvested a pair. Foxy wasn't very thrilled about having his meal interrupted but cooperated nonetheless. Haven't played with the snow in this one yet, but it's more just to share than anything.

A guy can get pretty spoiled in Alaska.

What a beautiful animal. The first one looks like a cut out to me, although beautiful. I think the lack of definition in the snow is what is giving it that look. I love the second one. That is a great capture.

Beautiful shots of a wonderful animal. I prefer the second one posted where it is eating his caribou carcass. It offers more about the animal and its life. Althought, the lighting on the fox was better in the first one you posted. both very good.
Is it the Red fox that sometimes follows the polar bears around looking to scavenge off their kills, or i think it might be a smaller fox.

    Re: Foxy

    Thanks, all!

Being a newbie to photoshop, it's been a learning curve trying to edit photographs and from what I understand, snow is usually difficult to adjust. In due time, I s'pose, but half the fun is getting there.

Greg, there are both arctic and red fox in the Arctic Circle and judging from what I've seen, both probably scavenge off polar bear kills. This winter is my first go-round up there; some of the old salts tell me that the red fox will run off the arctic fox as it is a larger animal. Both gorgeous nonetheless....

Unedited picture of an arctic fox...

    Re: Foxy

I love the first one. The lack of detail in the snow just creates a sterile void around him. It's cool

And his eyes are awesome in that shot.

    Re: Foxy

Really, really nice. Congratulations on the opportunity to be there and catch this shot. Perhaps a touch more context would be in order. It looks a little like a studio shot with a fox draped in white cloth. A stick or a tree would help bring it back to nature a little.

Quite a difference in the amount of fur of the red fox on this photos vs the ones photographed in Florida
