Florence (gee, imagine that!)

I know some of you don't like digitals converted to B&W but I really like them. I think it's one thing to simply convert to grayscale or to desaturate and just leave it at that. But I've seen many that I think are just as good or better than most of the films out there. Not saying mine is, just saying.

Anyway, here's one of my B&W shots. From florence. Is it too contrasty? Too busy. I'm one of those artsy fartsy types who doesn't like having shots that are too traditional so please keep that in mind.

It is busy but that's just more for a patterns junky to look at. I think the unusual composition with that negative space seperating the two sides works well here. Looking at it feels like being on one of those 'U' shaped amusement park rides with my eye traveling up one side and then back down and across to the other.

I love it! The tones are just stunning, a nice strong composition, and a plethora of lines and structures. Very well composed and just a great shot!

I like that the different patterns are connected to one another. It is a bit busy but I believe that the bw adds some interest.

I like the tone and the lines of this shot. They are very effective in the composition. I am not sure about the Pope craving. It seems disturbing the harmony and changes the context of the photo,

Thanks one and all!! Yoyo, I know what you mean but I was of a mind with Chunk. It seemed like a ride to me too. And given that, I left the carving because I think of him as the guy who collects the tickets while standing next to the bear that reads: You must be this tall to ride this ride. LOL
