First attempt at removing object from picture

This is my first attempt at removing objects from a picture. I removed about seven vehicles some signs, a street lamp, some orange plastic fence that is placed during construction and a few other things. More could be removed and all done better by someone with experience but for my first attempt I am happy, Jeff

    A few comments:

If you were going to remove extranneous objects to give it a lonlier view...why didn't you remove the fence around the base?

When you have this large of an object in the middle of the frame that splits it in 2 visually, my eye looks at it as 2 pictures....in this case, neither of these, if the picture was cropped so that the lighthouse was on the side, has anything that would capture my attention. I hope that makes sense.

The removals look pretty good on the posted version, how does it look printed?

I removed the objects that didn't belong there. The wrought iron fence around the base of the lighthouse has been there as long as the lighthouse has existed. What I was trying to do is remove the extra clutter that isn't really part of the permanent scene, Jeff

I think you've left some marks behind. I could see them on my monitor.

Better than I could have done. I can see a little bit but have to look hard and prolly wouldn't notice if I hadn't known you'd removed stuff and what it was.

I think for your first attempt at it you did pretty well, but I could tell there was work done without you having mentioned it. In the sky above the horizon to the left of the light house you have discolorations from the darker areas of sky you used to replace elements that were in lighter areas. In the water near the right side of the image you have repeating vertical patterns where the van was that you removed. All around there are other little hints and bits of evidence, but it was not a bad attempt at all. It takes practice, for sure.
Nice use of the tree to frame the light house.

    Jeff,

You did well for a first attempt, but there are a number of artifacts left over. Sometimes in cases like this, it works better to take multiple shots where you use a part of each shot to compile the overall image. I believe there are even automated tools to help with this.

As for the shot itself, the framing of the tree is nice, but you seem to have a slight counter-clockwise tilt, although in the modified version it looks more like different water levels on different sides of the light-house.

Jeff - I'm not sure I like the cropped version w/o the objects: I find it more interesting with them. There is a slight 1-2 degree tilt to the shot that needs to be corrected, but otherwise it seems like a pretty decent shot of the lighthouse. Those things are hard to get great shots of , but try a sunset or sunrise.

The second version is moved 1 degree to the right already. I tried two degrees and it seemed too much. As far as the objects that I removed the picture just seemed to busy or cluttered for me.

Thanks everyone for all the comments, suggestions and encouraging remarks. Thanks Jeff
