    Fall Pictures

Hey guys, this is my first post here. Its nice to see a good photography forum. I got my digital and 35 out yesterday to get some of the fall colors around here in MN. Here are some of the digitals i pulled. I would love to hear any opinions/critiques!

I really like the color on the second one with the light coming through the red leaf. Try a vertical crop at the edges of the tree trunk to simplify the composition. Or if you need some of the sky in it try something like this. Move that leaf out of dead center in the frame.

    Re: Fall Pictures

Hey guys thanks for the comments! I agree with you PRB on the first photo and how the sky doesnt add anything to the picture. I will crop that down a little bit. For the 2nd one, i was really going for the focus to be only on that red leaf. I had the camera on aperture P and i believe it was on the lowest. In order to get a better depth of field i would have had to move close which would not show the rest of the leaves, which i wanted to show to bring out the red. Yet i do agree and wish i could have had a better DOF. I shot a roll of velvia with my 35 which ill be getting back tomorrow and i took a lot of the same shots. Maybe i can post up some comparrisons if i can get them scanned in. By the way the digital camera i was using was the powershot s1is.

Chunk i originally had it cropped that way, but i found myself liking the full one better because of the leaf in the center and the left side felt lacking to me. Maybe you are right though and maybe my initial gut instict was right to crop out that right side.
