    Essentially Monochrome

This scene kept attracting my attention at my In-law's house. So, I finally got the camera. Was it worth the effort?

I think the seashell is out of place... it's distracting. Also the square of pastel in the top left corner is a bit distracting. Otherwise I really like the photo. The lamp shade's verticle lines and strong colors go well with the bottles.
    Nah, no waste of time.

Yes - definitely worth the effort but I gotta agree with cparker about the seashell but I really didn't notice the painting in the upper left corner until he pointed it out... Very nice setup and I like the "cold" light of electricity.

I like the how the arc projected by the shade frames the bottles. I think I would have liked that arc to be perfectly centered in the frame. I like how you captured the texture of the wall.

I'm gonna disagree that the shell is out of place. The frame of the painting complements the shell and vice versa. I like the photo a lot, but would have liked to have seen less crystal. Maybe a couple of the bottles removed would have been more dramatic.

    That's my opinion. ;)

I like the scene also, and think the seashell is fine . . goes with the table in fact. The painting behind the lamp I find sometimes distracting and then when I look again it does not bother me. I agree with Lara about there being perhaps too much clutter of crystal but i don't feel it really hurts the image too much. Texture on the wall is great, exposure is very good. I like it.

I like it as is - definitely worth the effort. Each item seems to find a balance within the framework of the photo and tend to compliment each other.
