    Eastern Oregon Desert

I took these driving around the desert on Sunday. I'm trying to convey the harsh but beautiful solitude of the Oregon Desert. The structure is a long-dead windmill.
Would appreciate any crits or comments.

    Thanks, Chuck

    Hello Chuck

Both are beautiful shots , the sky only looks a bit too dark for me on my monitor.
    Good work .

Chuck, I like them both. They have much dynamic qualities. I think they would work great in a collection of shots from your Oregon Desert and hills images. There is much vignetting going on around these images. Is this from polarizer and lens combination ( sometime wide angle lens and poarizer may get some vignetting) or is this from editing in ps?

Thanks, Gary. The vignetting is a Photoshop thing that I do sometimes when I import the RAW file. The gradation at the top is from a Graduated Neutral Density filter. I was also using a Polarizing filter. Those two filters plus a little vignetting makes a little dark (2 stops on the polarizer, and another 2 at the full graduation of the NDF), especially in the sky of some shots... damn near black. I just use it to hopefully add a little more depth and contrast.

Nice shots Chuck. Love the second one, the drastic contrast of the red on the blue sky, great pic. Maybe not so centered, but it works!

    Nice shooting,

Great shots. I would also like the first shot close up and tilted to give the structure a wierd twist.
