    Just the desert

Shot this about 4 months ago in the desert (Anza-Borrego, in California). It's a pretty simple shot, without much clutter.... I wonder if it's missing something and, if so, what?

The colors are nice, and the blue sky is gorgeous.... I might have tried to get a bit further back from the bush (?) so that it wasn't cropped at the top of the frame, though. The exposure is good, and it's nice and sharp.

I would have liked to see the whole plant. The plant itself is strange enough that you could have made it the subject, not that you didn't. I just would have liked to see more of it, because it is the subject. Very nice angle and shot.

I like its simplicity. Did you try a lower angle resulting in mor of the plant being against the uncluttered blue of the sky?
    Nice work.

Yeah, it is sort of cramped...

The plant/bush is Ocotillo. They're everywhere in that part of the desert: here's one shot of that type of plant against the sky (please excuse the poor scan, there appears to be some stuff on the glass).

The second is much better. You get a sense of the whole plant in the second, along with the fading of the blue sky and sunset. Very nice.
