    The Doorway

Shot I took on a snowy night in an abandoned old house. The wood is normal color, the outside has some work done. A concrete plant is near by with very yellow sodium lights, so the color was all off. C&C always welcome!

I wonder if you could step back more to take the shot.

    Re: The Doorway

hi, i like the idea behind this. there's a good balance in exposures, but this shot lacks a white point. the tonal range is grey to dark, and nothing going the other way from the grey to the white. i think the lightest part of the snow must be white or close to white for this work.

    Re: The Doorway

right now if you look at your levels you'll see this.

you see how there is no 'graph' on the right side? that means you're missing a lot of whites in this photo. to fix that, grab the right most triangle and pull it to the left until you start hitting some of the 'graph'. like this.

that should give it a bit of a boost in the whites department.

    hope that helped!
