Very cool - we all know what it says from seeing it a million times, but somehow never looked at it that way. The pole doesn't bother me, looks like authentic Chicago. White skies do though - the pole would contrast pretty well against the great partly-cloudy skies that everywhere else in the world gets to see.
Steve, authentic BLOOMINGDALE is more like it. Clouds? I saw some of those today, with a bit of SUN as well...and its supposed to rain over the next few days as well, shoot me.
LL, I feel the pole helps to ground the viewer, it adds context. But I could be wrong. I would like to know what others think as well, but overall it seems like it is not doing any bad.
I think this is one of those wonderful Seb shots...very unique.
I like the smoothness of the walk sign(the smoothness of the red and the general feel) and I think the pole adds to the shot both for the textures(crackled paper) and for providing a more sharp linear element to the pic. NICE

I wasn't trying to change society, or to be ahead of my time.
I didn't think of myself as liberated, and I don't believe that I did anything important.
I was just myself. I didn't know any other way to be, or any other way to live.".
