    Doll Face

This is one of my pictures (in my opinion the best) in my portfolio for my first semester of photography school. If you're interested, the rest is posted on my blog- AlannahRosePhotography.blogspot.com.

Shot with Nikon D100 and a Nikkor 50mm. No strobes or flash, so I had to use four regular house lamps. It was shot indoors in a bedroom.

I'd say that photography school is working for you. These are very nice. Love the whimsical concept! Same catchlight issue -- but that's very minor all things considered. I like your second shot best for three reasons - the dark shadow toward the bottom is gone, the lips are pursed just right, and the porcelain complexion is more doll-like, IMHO. What a pain those eyelashes must have been!

I don't think of tight detailed work as a pain. I enjoy it more than actually taking the pictures, honestly. What's IMHO?? Thank you.

Love the second shot, for it's frame filling "in your face" style. Processing is a bit plastic on the skin, but I think it works with the whimsical makeup & lashes.

Yeah, I was going for a doll look. Maybe porcelain or plastic, so I guess I got the right idea?

Great shot that captures what you were trying to say or present. Very Good Work.

I'm really getting to look forward to seeing your shots.
I, too, prefer the second but like them both.
I think you could clone out those catch lights and put one where you want it but in these photos I don't mind them and think they may actually add to the whimsical nature.
I would clone out the light reflected off of some jewelry or something. There is a pretty bright one on the right in the first and two dimmer ones on the left. There is just one on the left in the second.
    Nice work!
    Keep Shooting!

    Re: Doll Face

I was scared to death when the images loaded abruptly on my screen LOL!
My two cents....interesting composition, and approach, your PP is good, you did a great job on the skin, but for my taste is a bit overdone, Itīs nice to disappear the skin imperfections but be careful not to overdo it...at some point is has to look and feel as skin.
I think this type of shot may be favored with some highlights / shadows game...might look with more punch.
Other thing...you have a pair of eyes to die for...with a great green tone...after the PP your eyes became blue. In other picture I wouldn't mind about it....but on these set of images your eyes are the main subject, for me is always to keep in some extent the "essence" of the main subject.
    Great work!

Agree with Rob about the skin. Definitely overdone [edit: even for a doll].

    Very cool image, though.

Great processing, if you are looking to make the image look like a doll it is certainly working !

Ok, cool. I wanted to overdue it. I know that sounds stupid, but I was going for the extreme. And her eyes are blue, lol. =]
