    Yes... daydreaming she is!

What a nice shot, good composition too. I would like to see slightly more contrast, at least on my monitor which is calibrated.I also like the diagonal wall she's sitting on, it makes the image slightly more dynamic. I'm not so fond of the sepia but don't take that too personal; it's just that I've seen too many sepia shots lately that I almost consider it a new trend.
My personal opinion is that sepia should be used when the image really begs for and not just to give it some color, because then we could also use any non-brown color (which people seldom do).

Well done and welcome to the forum. I'm looking forward to see more of your shots, especially when I look at the ones in your signature!

Question, what are you shooting with and what settings are you using.

To me there is a softness and dreaminess to this image and wonder is the softness intentional. A little more light in the eyes would help this image I think, but don't know the conditions this was taken under.

Again Welcome aboard what I think is the friendliest set of forums I have found on the Internet.

    Welcome,
this shot is pleasing and moody. I like it. I also feel it needs a bit more contrast or just selectively darken the grassy bg some. Sepia is not my thing either and probably would prefer it more in b&w, but that is not a critique, just my opinion or preference. This, as well as the pics in your signature , are very good.

    :)

Hello, and thanks for the responses!

Believe it or not, this is my first attempt at Sepia... and I don't know if I am keen on it or not. :lol I prefer black and white over everything else, much to the husband's dismay. But, I wanted to mix it up a bit and I liked the effect the sepia lent to this particular shot. For some reason, in color it just didn't have the same "ooomph". I am thinking about trying it in B& W this afternoon and see if I like it better. I will also take your advice and give the background more dramatic contrast.

This was taken with my Canon EOS Digital Rebel SLR. As for settings, I tend to cheat so I can snap faster. :lol This was taken in "close up mode", so I fear the f-stop, focus, etc are not my doing. I simply was in the right place for the right shot with this one.

I am still learning - but I LOVE it.

As for the softness of this picture, I attribute it to my UV haze filter, and the overly muggy afternoon. This was taken in the late afternoon here in NC, with a storm rolling in on the horizon. So the humidity was DIRE! :lol

Thanks for the welcome, I look forward to sharing more. I might have to post the big one in color that is in my signature... as it was the first picture I really "took".
    Kate
