    Cats x 2

Was motivated for a second try from that last type of shot. Got both of em real tight. Does the crop work? What about the catchlights? Any other critiques? Thanks in advance!

hmm must be pretty good to get no responses. I guess "cats" isn't exactly the most enticing title, probably as good as "flowers" hehe.

Great focus and dof. I mention the dof because they are so close, it would be easy to lose.
Recently lost our 16 yr old cat and wish I had such a good shot of her.

I like #1 best. The dof draws me right into the cats eye's. I like #2 as well but the lighting is to harsh for me. Maybe try powering down your flash and using a diffuser to soften the light.

I like number 2 and might even like it more dark, like a cheshire cat thing going on

    Thanks for the feedback guys!

Yeah, the thing with the black ones coat is that it is sooo reflective, I cannot use a light and get anything but that shiny black reflective stuff. Heres another one I like better done without lights, underexposed his coat, just exposed for his eyes.

#1 looks 3D, like the cat will walk out of the screen

The eyes really stand out. But cats eyes are always intense. Glad that they cooperated for your photo.

I think the photo of the black one is too dark, trying to think how you could better illuminate her to make it a better shot. Some sort of soft indirect lighting would help. For the top shot (first posting) I would crop out the bottom so to focus more on her eyes. It's all about the eyes.

    Re: Cats x 2

I look at the texture of the eyes in both and both are good, but better on the second. I haven't anything to add on the shots other than to say that enhancing the focus and drama on the eyes always seems good on shots like this/
