Which Car??? Thanks for your comments :)

Here's your chance to get back at me. )

I've been playing around this weekend with some shots I took at the 80th Geneva Motorcar Show. I've never done this sort of thing before not really my style, but it has helped me get more familiar with my Capture NX and Photoshop CS4. Car-Four is HDR but with only 1 exposure.

Could you let me know which if any shot you like and if you'd have any other suggestion for these shots? I append the original as well for info and so you know what I had to work with.

Thanks for your time and comments.

while I think they all look great, I think the color adds something to the car....that said, I like the first one the best, because in the other color shot, that blue thing above the car kind of draws my eye away. This is a really great shot of this car, good job finding the perfect angle to shoot from.

how do you HDR with one exposure? this has been a mystery to me....

Thanks Dubbs. I use a software called Dynamic-Photo HDR and it forces HDR characteristics from the 1 shot, either Raw or Jpeg.

    Number 1 gets my vote.
Very nice work. Love the shadows, gradients, added star effects.

Thanks Bob, I'm leaning in that direction. Though I like the 3rd one too for something different. At least different for me.

I vote for #1,also, as a realistic shot.
I think #3 is good as a surreal shot.

I think # 1 has the most wow factor, the colours work here imo. I like the distortion you added to the front left , I dont think this would have worked quite so well on any other style of vehicle. Tinniest knit pick I think the corners of the shadows behind the background should be squared off and not taper up to the corner.

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

Thanks Frog, thanks Hmix. Funny spend a bunch of time doing the B&W versions, yet the first is so far the choice. Anyway I am just experimenting. I tapered the shadow as I also did so on the car in the front. Thanks for the suggestion though I will see how it looks.

3 & 4 are my favorites but in each case I think I'd bring the background crop over from the right to eliminate that white MG-TF (or whatever it is)

Which car? Any of them. Welcome upgrade from my delivery bicycle.

But seriously now... #3 for me, followed, I think, by #2, and subsequently, by #1. So 3, 2, 1 and, in the words of Sean Connery, "bbbblahsht off!" Hopefully with me behind the wheel.

Thanks Nicci, Dray, Jet, appreciate your thoughts and comments, and Nicci your drool.

Jet I'll see if I can't darken the white thing, surely not a Morgan. The framing was a bit hard on this one as it was ending up to small. Lets see what magic i (Capture NX) can do. Cheers

I've noticed that when someone asks which version is the best, they always place the best one first. That's the case here.

Thanks LL, funny about that isn't it. Like the first guess is usually the right one too. In any case I am just playing around with post processing as I'm not so good at using it. I still like the #3 though. Cheers

Quite interesting photo, the perspective of the wide angle is fascinating,
the man standing at the end of the car is either really tall,
or the woman he is with is quite short

    I like the original :blush2:

and the metallic effect on the hdr one, but would have liked to see it in color

the crop and mixing of images that you did in photoshop is great.

did you add the stars on the light reflections using PS? (I do not know anything about photoshop)

    No.1 no doubt....great work!

No2 is nice but the color really adds crunch to the shot.

Very cool car and cool effects. I like #1 best because that color is so beautiful. 3 and 4 are also very appealing. My nitpicks: I find the background a bit distracting as well as the color of the seats. If you could somehow minimize the color there I think the car would pop even more. The halo effect is a bit much for #4 for me. If you adjusted the gradient just a bit that might become my new favorite. Great work!!

Re: Which Car??? Thanks for your comments :)

Thanks everyone for your ideas and comments, I have already made some adjustments to the shots as advised. I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to give me your thoughts and leaving comments. Thanks for that it really does help me improve.

Armando, I didn't know about stars till this weekend. With the strong lights on the cars I thought pity I didn't have a star filter. Then I thought about photoshop and maybe that could do it. I went on line typed in stars and photoshop and downloaded a free add on to brushes. The rest is history. Like you I am just starting out with photoshop, most of the work was with Nikon's CaptureNX, the stars and logo were put on with photoshop.

    Cheers all, Shootme

PS: I borrowed the lens for these shots, a Nikon 14-24mm f2.8, wide angle rocks...

The main thing I do not like about number three is the way the background matches the screen. I like the picture to be defined and to know exactly where the pictures starts and ends. I have noticed this on several photos that members have posted and it is just a pet peeve of mine, Jeff
