Very nice, Jetrim. This is a great photo and the thread is even better because it has so much background content. I just posted a link to it on our Facebook fan page.
I do like the second, process image a lot. I like the added warmth and the contrast between the smooth skin and pointy little fur hairs is really nice. I also like that you didn't overdo it. A lot of photographers overprocess the skin in female portraits. I hate that. I like to see some skin texture. I think you did a really nice, balanced job there. The skin looks really smooth and touchable - but I can still see skin. It doesn't have that cheesy satiny look I see way too often.
I have one problem with the black-and-white version. I think the highlights on her face are a bit too hot. I'm sure you could mask them in one of your layers or something to hold them back. In the black-and-white, I think you've lost that smooth skin feel you had in the first processed, color image.
Thanks for sharing the photo and your process. This is a really good post!

What a very nice surprise to find this shot stickied! I really appreciate all the comments and especially the fact that Photo-John took the time to write out some thoughts on this one. FWIW I think after looking at it some more, I agree that the balance in the B&W needs further tweeking.
I don't generally take this much time in post, but this shot seemed worth the extra effort, and I'm very excited to hear everyone else was as happy with the end result as I was

You did a great job but I like the original more. I hate this style of fake portraiture. No wonder girls who read fashion magazines grow up with major complexes.

Chiming in a little late here Jet. Regardless as to whether someone may feel it crosses the line, it is very nice work and one for your portfolio. I know this stuff is not easy -- maybe you can refine the process (and then post it in the PP forum !! ).
The only complaint I have that at least Rob has mentioned (havent' read the other posts) is the overdone eyebrow. Otherwise, I'm fine with everything. I gravitate more towards the black and white BTW.

Someone here's asking if this is Sophie Loren's little sister?
