How do you feel about the colors and tones in this?
    Thanks,

    Hi Mark,

Nice shot. But, I find the subject to be a little to busy. Also, did you desaturate this some? I think it would benefit from more color or a full b&w conversion.

Mark, I think the tones in this are good. There are rich blacks and strong highlights and good contrast with details and midtones throughout. As for color, it looks as though you have selectively colored this image? I think it helps as this is a busy shot with all the twigs , stems, dirt and debris and so the addition of color helps distinguish between the different elements and brings down the busy feel. I would add a bit more coloring throughout.

    Tim, Gary,
I thought might make a good B&W image, but while psing liked keeping some color in the pine needles. Also added some blue that shows up in some of the black areas of the stump.
Thank you both for you're input.

    Hi Mark,

Don't get my critique wrong. It's good work. It looks like you started off with a nice exposure which, as Gary mentions, give good values to all your tones. This allows one to work on the "artistic" side of things instead of "rescuing" an image, eh?

I like it, but I don't get the feeling of 'burned'. Great shot though, and the selective coloring is a nice touch,

undo83, welcome! Italy, cool. Show us some old and very old streets and alleys at sunrise or sunset, or after a rain, and we'll love it!
So glad you liked my pic! Thanks for posting,

    Hi Tim,
I didn't get you wrong. I am working with a couple of hadicaps. 1 I don't have much time for my "hobby". 2 Theres not an artistic fiber in me.
I can take care of the first by making more time. the second one I think I can compensate for with the help of people like you posting on these forums.
    Cheers,
    Mark.
